ABOUT
Jazz drummer Amund Kleppan (b. 1996) released his debut album Venture in 2019 to international acclaim. With strong ties to his native Norway, he also tours regularly across Europe with Amund Kleppan Quintet, Aloft Quartet and other ensembles.
Since picking up his first pair of drumsticks fifteen years ago in his neighbour’s basement, Amund has been completely hooked. Currently he is completing his Masters degree at the Royal Academy of Music where he’s studying with teachers such as Dave Holland, James Maddren and Orlando Le Fleming. Prior to his time in London he studied in Germany, obtaining his Bachelor degree from the Jazz Institute Berlin.
Amund received a Danish Music Jazz Award for "New Artist" with his group Aloft Quartet in 2018, and they have released three albums since to rave reviews. He is a proud endorser of the Japanese drum company Canopus Drums and a recipient of the 2021 Ian Fleming Instrumental Award. Throughout his career, Amund has shared the stage with many fine musicians such as Arild Andersen, Marius Neset, Trygve Seim, Jacob Young, Espen Berg, Bjørn Vidar Solli, Marcin Wasilewski, Ellen Andrea Wang, Judy Niemack and Peter Weniger.
